Stalks could feel the Rage grow within him as the frustration with the girls obstinance grew. He shifted to his wolf form and ran off into the woods to work off the excess energy. Jumping over fallen trees and dodging large rocks, he followed the scent of water.
Returning to the stream where they had encountered Uktena he let out a long, pleading howl. He hoped Uktena would respond so he could ask for her help with making the girl understand the urgency of these lessons. After several minutes of listening to the rushing water and feeling the breeze blow through his fur, he moved to the water to drink.
Growing even more frustrated he began running again, this time not following anything in particular. After several hours his energy waned enough for him to calm himself. He looked around and realized he was in an area he did not recognize. He started sniffing the air trying to catch a familiar scent.

Fire Born lay beside the river watching the clouds meander across the sky. The air remained motionless except for an occasional light breeze. Suddenly the twittering of the birds went quiet. She quickly sat up and began to look about. Crashing through the the thick underbrush was a huge bear. As it cleared the tree line it stopped and stood up to a full twelve feet tall. As it roared several tentacles shot forward from its mouth. The top of its head split apart and giant insect pincers sprang from the opening. The bears eyes bulged out and suddenly extended on stalks. Green ichor began to drip from its huge claws as it started quickly moving toward her in a threatening manner.
Just as the beast was nearly within striking distance, Stalks Alone leaped from the trees tackling the monster and clamping onto its arm with his huge Hispo form fangs.

Fire Born jumped back and pulled her dagger. She didn't know hoe to kill this creature. usually, the pack would not take down a bear. but this thing was worse. It smelled like bear but also stung her nose. Stalks Alone bit into it and she took the opportunity to move around to a better position. Waiting for the right moment to strike.

The bear let out an unnatural squeal and swung its massive body back and forth trying to shake Stalks off of it. Fire Born circled looking for a good vantage point, but the bear was thrashing about so violently she was having trouble getting behind it. Stalks Alone shook his head trying to tear at the bears arm. With one swift motion the bear slammed Stalks to the ground and then raked its other claw across his ribs. There was a terrible hissing sound as smoke rose from the wound. Stalks released his grip and let out a yelp of pain. Quickly the huge wolf rolled away from the beast and shifted to his war form. Fire Born ducked behind a large rock hoping to avoid detection. If Stalks could keep the monster busy perhaps she could attack it from behind.

As Stalks Alone Fought the Bear, Fire moved into a better position. Just as she was about to jump it from behind she saw Blind Steer come out form the bushes along with several of the pack and immediately she backed off. She was no longer in charge of this hunt. As she moved the wolves all moved and in a flow of motion that had been in use since Fire was young, they all attacked together. Two wolves jumped at the tentacles and a few more snapped at the bears bottom paws. The bear that was not a bear backed up against a jutting of rocks next to the water and that's when Fire Born moved.Climbing the rock she hid behind, She picked up a large stone and threw it as hard as she could at an eye, then dropped down into a crouch low to the ground before quickly springing up and sinking the deep bite of her fang into the hide of the bear several times. every one of the hits was in a vital point for the animal. She hoped that this would end its horrible life Faster. It smelled Wrong and the longer it was here the more danger her pack was in. She could see that Three of the wolves that had been attacking were backing off as if injured and Stalks Alone was hurt as well. She stabbed it a few more times and it gave out a terrible Gurgle Squeal then began falling forward towards the ground on top of Fire. She tried to tug out her Fang but it was stuck in what she could only guess was bone and she refused to let it go. They both went crashing to the ground and landed half in and out of the water. The wolves let out a howl all at the same time when the bear that was not a bear hit Fire Born and pined her under it. She pushed and pulled but the creature was too heavy for her to get free of.

The pack circled the giant beast, growling and yipping. One of them, Blind Steer, pulled at the hide Fire Born wore. She was pinned tight beneath the monster and nothing any of the pack did seemed to help free her. Stalks, hold one claw over his smoking ribs, stepped up to the carcass. A look of rage and hatred spread across his face as he squatted down and dug his claws into the thick hide. Then, with a strain, he began to lift the creatures bulk. Moments later Fire Born was pulled to safety by Blind Steer. Stalks Alone let out a tremendous roar which trailed off into a howl as he dropped the dead bear. He then stumbled back a bit and promptly fell over. As his body hit the bank of the river he shifted back to his human form. Fire Born could see the werewolf was unconscious and bleeding from his ribs. The flesh around each gash was puffed and burnt, but the smoking seemed to have stopped. The wind began to blow and the normal sounds of the forest began to come back to life.
